Armor is worse tier for tier, but the AA and torp belt is better.īasically, with the NC, you could sneak and wiggle into a closer position where your guns did better and you could bounce more shells. Guns are no upgrade given the tier difference. The concealment possibility with the NC is gone. It's faster, but it's bigger and slower to turn making it more clumsy, overall a less usable package since the NC wasn't slow anyways. The North Carolina was an excellent ship the Iowa is more frustrating. Montana's belt is plainly visible, while Iowa's is not. You don't even need to have the armor viewer on to see the difference, actually. It is worth noting that Montana does not share this internal belt feature Monty's armor, while similarly-though to a lesser degree-sloped, is located at the exterior of the hull. There is one problem with this arrangement: it creates a bit of a shot trap where shells can sometimes penetrate and explode, dealing regular penetration damage to you instead of shattering or bouncing off. It's sloped inward from the deck line toward the keel, which gives it a bit of extra effectiveness vs incoming shells when you're angled properly.

If you turn off torpedo bulge in the armor viewer, you will see the how the internal armor belt is set up.

The exterior of the hull, much as it was in real life, is basically just slightly thickened shell plating. How is the internal armor belt implemented in the game ? When I look at the armor layout, it shows a much simpler and thinner belt than on Montana or NC.
